At American Midwest Realty, our company is made up of people who are also Investors, Owners, & Tenants in the greater South Bend region. We understand all sides of Property Management. Our experiences have created a desire to change the way property management is done. We have learned from our experiences. As what was once said,
‘Experience is the teacher of all things.’
– Roman General Julius Caesar
However, what many others have learned over time, and what many others have articulated in one form or another,
“Intelligence is the ability to learn from your mistakes. Wisdom is the ability to learn from the mistakes of others.“
– Anonymous
Since 2001, the founder of American Midwest Realty has flipped over 1,000 homes in the South Bend area. He has been involved in all aspects of property management since 2005, and he has been through the highs and lows of the housing market, as an investor himself, and as a property manager. He knows what it’s like to partner with others and to put your trust in someone only to be let down.
If his experience has taught him one thing, it’s that his goal going forward is to do property management differently. It’s why Rob started American Midwest Realty in July of 2020, that he started developing Our Philosophy. It’s why communication, Education & Training, as well as patience & compassion, are so important to us. It’s why we preach the golden rule,
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
– Matthew 7:12
Not all of our experiences have been like that. Our experiences have also shown us the ugly side of property management, where Tenants and Property Managers alike are unable to work out their differences, destroying the relationship that they have built. We have seen miscommunication cause a breakdown of the Investor and Property Manager relationship. We have seen Tenants and Investors clash so badly that it leads to destruction of the Investors property.
Can 100% of these situations be prevented? Possibly. We believe that it starts with Education & Training, through Communications & setting clear expectations, as well as patience & compassion for everyone we deal with. This is harder to do when you manage every property in town. However, with just under 100 units under management now, and a goal to reach & stay in the 300-350 units under management range, we believe we will be able to maintain our focus on individual Investors & Tenants including our out of state & international investors.
Our Philosophy isn’t enough to change the way property management is done. We have to practice what we believe. We will need to make adjustments as time goes on, as we learn from our experiences. Will you join us on this journey? We would love to talk to you more about it.
